The installer who shows you the load calc.
Saltline has installed and serviced air conditioning and refrigeration from Byron Bay to Southport since 2009. In that time we’ve learned the thing owners actually want isn’t the lowest number, it’s a system that’s the right size and a quote they can trust. So we built the business around making both legible.
Most air conditioning goes wrong before the unit is ever mounted. A size pulled off the floor area. A “she’ll be right, get the 7kW” over the phone. A standard coil installed a block from the surf. By the time the owner can see the problem, the room that never quite cools, the power bill that climbed, the condenser rusting after three summers, the installer is long gone.
Saltline started in 2009 with a simple idea: write the quote so the sizing and the spec are impossible to hide. The load calc, the equipment named, the placement, the coastal coil, the electrical, the pipework, the commissioning. Seven lines, each with a price. Put next to a cheaper quote, ours doesn’t look dearer. It looks complete. That’s usually the whole conversation.
An owner can’t see the load calc or the coil spec once the unit is on the wall. So we make it something you can read on the quote instead, before you sign, not after the first summer.
Today we cover residential split and ducted, commercial air conditioning, and commercial refrigeration, plus the servicing that keeps all of it running, across the Gold Coast & Northern Rivers, with no travel surcharge within 40km of Burleigh Heads.
Three things we won’t compromise on.
We size it with a load calc, not a guess
The kW you need comes from a room-by-room calculation: floor area, glazing, orientation, ceiling height and insulation. We put it on the page so you can see why the size is the size. Sizing off the floor plan is how you end up with an oversized box that short-cycles and costs more to run, or an undersized one that never keeps up.
The right system, not the biggest one
Sometimes the honest answer is a single split, not a ducted system. We’ll tell you which you actually need, even when it’s the smaller job, because an owner who trusts the first quote is the one who calls us back for the next house, and the maintenance, and the coolroom.
Everything in writing
Itemised quote on letterhead, the equipment named, the coil spec stated, the electrical scope spelled out, the gas charge logged and the ARC paperwork issued. No cash-only handshake, no “$3,000 the lot” by text from someone who never measured the rooms.
Who we’re the right installer for, and who we’re not.
We’d rather lose a job to a fairer fit than win one we’ll both regret. Mara’s honest about who Saltline suits.
If you want the cheapest number on the street, we’re probably not your installer. If you want a system that’s the right size, a coil that survives the salt, and a quote you can read, that’s the whole business.
Licensed both sides of the border, and happy to prove it.
The corridor crosses the QLD and NSW line, so we hold both, on top of the federal refrigerant authorisation. A QLD-only operator can’t legally finish a job in Byron.

Saltline Air & Refrigeration is a composite reference site. The licence numbers, ABN and contact details above are illustrative placeholders, not a real operator. On a live build these are the real, verifiable credentials of the HVAC business.
A small crew, not a call centre.

Founder & lead technician
Fifteen years installing on the coast, the last several watching cheap units rust out a few summers after a “she’ll be right” quote. Started Saltline in 2009 to size it properly, name the gear, and spec the coil for the salt, in writing, every time.
“I would rather lose the job to an honest load calc than win it by selling someone a 7kW box they did not need. The installs I win on a sized quote are the ones still running quietly in ten years.”

Coolrooms, freezers, display cabinets and cellars. Runs the 24/7 commercial breakdown line, because a warm coolroom at 2am is spoiled stock by morning.

Books the site visits, builds the seven-line quotes and runs the maintenance schedule. The reason you get a call back within a business day.
What happens from first call to commissioning.
Site visit + load calc
We measure the rooms, check the glazing and the switchboard, and run the heat-load calculation before we quote a kW.
Itemised quote
The seven-line install quote: sized equipment named, coil spec, electrical, pipework and commissioning each on their own line.
Equipment + contract
You sign off the model and the scope. We order, confirm the install window and take a deposit on letterhead.
Install day
Indoor and outdoor units mounted, lines run and lagged, penetrations sealed, condensate drained to fall. Drop sheets and a clean-down.
Electrical + commissioning
Dedicated circuit and isolator connected, system evacuated and charged by weight, then commissioned and tested under load.
Handover + paperwork
We walk you through the controls, hand over the ARC compliance paperwork, register the warranty and book the first service.
Want a quote you can actually read? Let’s start with the load calc.
Tell us what you need. We’ll book a walkthrough and send a quote with the work itemised, not just a number.
