Ducted · Zoned whole-home

Ducted Air Conditioning

One system, hidden in the roof, cooling the whole house evenly and controlled from a single touchpad. Ducted lives or dies on the duct design and the zoning, so we calculate the load per zone and size the ducting to it, rather than running one fan flat out and calling it a system.

Two honest options

Ducted or split? It depends on the house.

Cheaper, simpler, room by room. No roof space needed.

    Scope

    What this job includes.

    • New ducted installs for builds, renovations and replacements
    • Room-by-room zoning so you only condition what you use
    • Correctly sized ductwork, returns and grille placement
    • Three-phase power and switchboard upgrades where the load needs it
    • Coastal coil spec on the outdoor condenser
Our system: Ducted inverter systems with zone control, duct design sized to the per-zone load, and the condenser treated for coastal exposure.
    How we quote it

The same 7 lines, every time.

Whatever the surface, your quote splits the work the same honest way, so you can see exactly what you’re paying for.

    The 7-line quote
    1. 1 Heat-load calculation. Room by room: floor area, glazing, orientation, ceiling height and insulation. The kW comes from the calc, not a guess.
    2. 2 Equipment named. Exact make, model, series and capacity on the quote. “A good Japanese one” is not a model number.
    3. 3 Placement plan. Where the indoor and outdoor units go: airflow, noise, service access and how far from the salt.
    4. 4 Coastal coil spec. Salt-zone installs get a blue-fin or anti-corrosion-treated condenser. The standard coil is what rusts out in three years.
    5. 5 Electrical + dedicated circuit. Single-phase or three-phase, the isolator, the circuit and the switchboard check. We hold the electrical licence, so it is our line, not yours.
    6. 6 Pipework, drainage + penetrations. Refrigerant line length and lagging, the condensate run, and every wall penetration sealed against weather and vermin.
    7. 7 Commissioning + compliance. Gas charge weighed and logged, system commissioned to spec, ARC paperwork issued and the manufacturer warranty registered.
If a quote doesn’t show these lines, you can’t compare it, and you don’t know what’s been cut.
    How it runs

    What happens, step by step.

    1

    Site visit + load calc

We measure the rooms, check the glazing and the switchboard, and run the heat-load calculation before we quote a kW.

    2

    Itemised quote

The seven-line install quote: sized equipment named, coil spec, electrical, pipework and commissioning each on their own line.

    3

    Equipment + contract

You sign off the model and the scope. We order, confirm the install window and take a deposit on letterhead.

    4

    Install day

Indoor and outdoor units mounted, lines run and lagged, penetrations sealed, condensate drained to fall. Drop sheets and a clean-down.

    5

    Electrical + commissioning

Dedicated circuit and isolator connected, system evacuated and charged by weight, then commissioned and tested under load.

    6

    Handover + paperwork

We walk you through the controls, hand over the ARC compliance paperwork, register the warranty and book the first service.

    Licensed, covered, warranted

    The paperwork behind the price.

ARC AU45782, QBCC and NSW licensed, Public liability to $20M, and a 6-year workmanship workmanship warranty, all in writing, all on request.

Mara walks through exactly what’s covered: the refrigerant authorisation you can verify, the licences for both sides of the border, the cover that protects your property, and the warranty that names its own exclusions instead of hiding them.

The licence, the cover, the warranty, and how to check each one.

    Questions, answered

    Ducted Air Conditioning: common questions.

Is ducted worth it over a few splits?
For a whole house, usually yes: it is quieter, hidden, and zoning means you only pay to cool the rooms you are using. For one or two rooms a split is cheaper and simpler. The deciding factors are roof space, how many rooms you want to control, and budget, which we lay out honestly on the quote.
What is zoning and do I need it?
Zoning lets you cool the living area by day and the bedrooms by night without running the whole house. It is the single biggest running-cost saver on a ducted system, and we design the zones around how you actually live, not a generic plan.
Will my power handle a ducted system?
A larger ducted system often needs three-phase power or a switchboard upgrade. We check the switchboard on the site visit and cost any electrical work up front, on its own line, so it is never a surprise after the ducting is in.
Can you retrofit ducted into an existing house?
Often yes, if there is roof or underfloor space for the ducting and the returns. We assess access on the site visit and tell you honestly if a multi-head split would be a better fit for the house than forcing ducts where they do not run.
How long does a ducted install take?
A typical single-storey ducted install is two to four days depending on the size, the zoning and any electrical work. We give you a realistic window on the quote and keep the roof and electrical work staged so the house stays liveable.
Does the coastal coil spec apply to ducted too?
Yes. The outdoor condenser on a ducted system sits in the same salt air as a split’s, so coastal installs get the treated coil and the right placement. The indoor fan coil is protected in the roof, but the unit outside is the one the salt attacks.
